A urinary tract infection (also referred to as a UTI) is a bacterial infection affecting the urinary tract.
Ways to prevent Urinary Tract Infection
Drink at least 8 glasses of clean water daily.
Do not resist the urge to urinate.
Do not bathe, instead, take a shower since bacteria accumulates in bath water.
After urination, women should always wipe from front to back.
If you have to urinate don't wait.
After sexual intercourse, it is a good practice to urinate.
Wash off for cleanliness sake before and after sexual intercourse.
Don't wear wet swimsuits or nylon underwear.
As a general rule avoid using toiletries that aren't gentle. Best to use herbal soap, shampoo etc.
During menstruation frequently change tampons and sanitary towels.
Avoid processed foods such as dairy products, cheese, spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol and chocolate.
Avoid tight or close fitting under garments.
Do not use artificial sweetners that contain Aspartame, and as a general rule avoid all artificial sweetners.
