When food does not break down completely in the stomach and small intestine, it then ferments in the large intestine where bacteria produce a variety of gases.

  • Drink water throughout the day for good digestion.
  • Eat a steady intake of fibre to promote regular bowel movements.
  • Do not mix carbohydrates with proteins at the same meal.
  • Make sure that you "fast" and cleanse your colon regularly.
  • Smoking can increase the amount of air you swallow, so don't smoke.
  • Make sure you are having at least a bowel movement every day.
  • Don't chew gum.
