Remedies for Earache
An earache can be either a throbbing, sharp or dull pain that causes discomfort. It is very common in children but can affect people of all ages.
Ways to relieve an earache.
- Chewing gum may help relieve the pain associated with earache.
- When swimming wear earplugs or swimming cap.
- Don't use cotton swabs to clean your ears. Wax build up against your eardrum may occur.
- To releve the pain place a heat pack against the ear.
- Always dry ears throughly after showering, swimming etc.
- Place cotton balls loosley into ears that are hurting. This will keep drafty air from aggravating the situation.
- Self induced Yawning contracts ear muscles and can help with pain.
- Take a hot shower but be sure not to get water in inflicted ear.
- Reduce pressure in the middle ear by sitting a child in an upright position.
- Apply a warm compress over the painful ear.
