Remedies for Constipation
Constipation is less frequent bowel movements than normal to more difficult passage of stools or a combination of both.
Ways to relieve constipation.
- Taking stool softeners may loosen stool and end constipation.
- Don't regularly use laxatives or enemas.
- Drink plenty of water, lemon water, fruit juices or hot tea to stimulate the bowels.
- The best time for regular bowel movement is usually the first hour after breakfast. Done regularly this will help to set up a healthy bowel routine.
- Exercise such as swimming or walking everyday can help to both prevent and relieve constipation.
- Add high fiber foods such as whole bran cereal, grain breads, raisins, dried fruit, fresh fruit and vegetables to your diet.
- Take magnesium supplements or eat foods such as green leafy vegetables, nuts or seeds.
