Living a Healthy Lifestyle

There is much to be said about living the correct lifestyle to achieve optimum, health and happiness and frankly no one wants to be told how to live their lives.

With that said there are important yes even essential ingredients to living a healthy lifestyle. It is not my intent to be "preachy" or to cast my beliefs upon you but rather give you heart felt opinions that truly have worked for many other people and me. Some if not many of this stuff is pretty elementary you know basic things we were taught as kids but through the passing of time we went our own way. So sit back, hear what I have to say and if you find it interesting and good advice, well Great! If not anything lost but a few moments in time.

Mineral Deficiency:

"Everyone who dies of a natural cause really dies of a nutritional deficient disease." Wow what a powerful statement but true our bodies are sorely lacking the proper nutrients.

Medicine treats long-term debilitating diseases, particularly diabetes, heart disease, and arthritis among many, many others. These diseases were " CURED " long ago in animals. There are over 900 diseases caused by nutritional deficiencies. NATUROPATHY is practiced by naturopathic physician's (N.D.). What distinguishes naturopathic medicine is that its "practice emerges from its underlying principle- FIRST DO NO HARM. Naturopathic medicine recognizes an INHERENT HEALING ABILITY of the body. Naturopathic physicians emphasize the prevention of disease. God gave the human body the perfect ability to heal itself...our very own and distinct immune system. When our body is given the right food {fuel} and nutrients it has the mandate to fight back viruses, bacteria, infections, disease that silently makes its home in our bodies. The body's immune response begins producing specific antibodies that can prevent the virus, bacteria etc. from infecting cells. A common recommendation made by most medical doctors is that in order to get all the nutrients necessary to maintain health you must, on a daily basis, eat food from each of the four basic food groups (i.e., meats and proteins, fruits and vegetables, breads and grains and dairy products). However It is practically impossible to get all the nutrients (especially the minerals) necessary to prevent disease by eating food from the four basic food groups. Our soils have been worked to death largely depleted of its once rich nutrients. Furthermore, in many cases pollutants have been added to our soils. That's right pollutants such as toxic chemicals, fertilizers, poisons of all sorts and high magnitudes in order to "feed mankind" more efficiently, so say the experts. There was a time our soils were nutrient rich and we were able to get the 90 essential minerals our body craves and demands but sadly those days are long gone. Eating the right food is very important but let us not kid ourselves in believing that is enough to sustain our immune system. In conjunction with eating a healthful diet it is essential to supplement with natural vitamins, minerals, herbs, whole foods and the like.

We highly recommend Organic Colloidal Minerals These minerals have been processed through a plant and have undergone a biochemical transformation which makes them extremely absorbable (90% to 98%) and non toxic.Along with a healthy lifestyle that includes a proper diet and exercise, these products can help you live a fuller life. When it comes to mineral supplementation, you should use only the finest products available.BUY   from the company that revolutionized the Organic Colloidal Mineral industry.

What to eat? What not to eat?

No I am not the food police! Believe it or not it is true "we are what we eat". I am not one to think if you follow a certain diet you and you alone have the "one diet" that all mankind should adhere to. However there are foods in my opinion that should and shouldn't be eaten.

A healthy eating plan:
"If man made it, don't eat it...If GOD made it, ENJOY"

Eat breakfast every day:
People who eat breakfast are less likely to overeat later in the day. Breakfast also gives you energy and helps you get your day off to a healthy start.

Choose whole grains more often:
Try whole-wheat breads and pastas, oatmeal, brown rice, or bulgur. Limit your carbohydrates and white starch foods opt instead for brown foods. Buy in bulk at your local natural health food store and save money. Avoid supermarket man made processed foods containing potentially harmful dyes, preservatives, and all sorts off additives not meant for human consumption.

Select a mix of colorful vegetables each day:
Vegetables of different colors provide different nutrients. Choose dark leafy greens such as spinach, kale, collards, and mustard greens, and reds and oranges such as carrots, sweet potatoes, red peppers, and tomatoes. Organic is best. Fresh is best!

Choose fresh, canned, or frozen fruit more often than fruit juice:
Fruit juice has little or no fiber, and the calories may be high. Fresh, canned, or frozen fruit is often better for you. If you eat canned fruit, opt for fruit packed in water rather than syrup. Buy a juicer and make your own juice it is healthier and it's fun. Organic is best! Fresh is best!

Use fats and oils sparingly:
Olive, canola, and peanut oils, avocados, nuts and nut butters, olives, and fish provide heart-healthy fat as well as vitamins and minerals.

Eat sweets sparingly:
Limit foods and beverages that are high in added sugars. Less sugar is good none is best.

Eat three meals every day:
If you skip meals or replace a meal with a snack, you might overeat later on.

Have low-fat, low-sugar snacks on hand:
Whether you are at home, at work, or on the go, healthy snacks may help to combat hunger and prevent overeating. No sugar is best. Stay away from man made foods that are factory processed that are full of potentially harmful additives.

Eat meat and eggs:
Meat is a great source of protein and the lowly egg is perhaps the perfect food. I personally eat at least 2-3 eggs a day and have no reservations of eating more. DO NOT eat meat that is charred or burned or very well done for they produce Carcinogens. Poultry, fish, and especially red meat naturally contain amino acids, sugars, and a protein called creatinine.Cooking, especially under high temperatures, converts these compounds into heterocyclic amines (HCA) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), which have been linked to cancer in animal and human studies. Use butter instead of margarine. I am not going to suggest what kinds of meat to eat that's up to you but I will say lean organically raised hormone free meat is best. Beware of supermarket-packaged meat you can't be sure where it came from and what it contains.

Water:
Drink 8 glasses of clean water everyday. Avoid water that man has tampered with. Chlorine and fluoride are poisons in my opinion and should be avoided like the plague.
Train yourself to drink plenty of water between meals. Drink your fresh vegetable and fruit juices also on an empty stomach. Washing down foods with liquid is a learned habit that can be broken. Drinking liquids at mealtime dilutes digestive juices and makes digestion less efficient.

Do not Smoke:
Tobacco has many harmful effects. If you currently smoke try to give it up. Join Growerz.com for the support and assistance that you need.

Alcohol:
Do not drink alcohol as even in small amounts it can have a detrimental effect on the body.

Breathe deeply:
Breathe deeply - but in pure and not polluted air. Air Purifiers are able to assist if you live in an environment with poor air quality. They can also assist if you have a problem with allegens such as dust mites and pollens.

Sunshine:
Our body needs sunshine to function well and to make vitamin D. We should not get so much that we burn as this damages the skin and can lead to skin cancers. How much you need will depend upon where you live and the nature of your skin - about 10 minutes per day with about 60% skin exposure is a rough guideline.

Good posture and bones:
We need to make sure that the structure that holds us together and upright is in good alignment. There are many who consider this to be the foundation of our health and that if our bony structure is right then the nerve and energy impulses that pass to the rest of the body will help to keep it in good order. If you have any difficulties with this you need to see a practitioner such as a chiropractor or osteopath or massage therapist.

Take medical drugs only as a last result:
Take medical drugs only if essential. Excessive use of medicinal drugs (obtained either on prescription or over the counter at a pharmacists or supermarket), can lead to serious physical ill health. Avoid taking drugs unless there is a defined medical problem. Many pharmaceutical drugs have an adverse effect on our vitamins and minerals. Seek alternative approaches (such as naturopathy and herbalist) to managing health problems.

Take regular mental exercise:
The mind affects the body in many ways and mental health is necessary to achieve physical health. Mental activities such as reading, writing, the creative arts, a hobby, learning something new, doing a different project all stimulates the mind. Watching excessive amount of TV, computer games or videos does not allow you to exercise your creativity or mental capacity.

Have and follow a goal in life:
It is important that you have a goal or purpose in life that you are interested in and genuinely wish to achieve. This may be via your job or home life or by being a member of a local or national society or some other means. Without an interest in wanting to achieve something, life often becomes dull and meaningless.Develop and maintain a range of positive, supportive relationships.
Maintain a wide range of interests and activities. Life can be divided into certain areas such as your own personal interests, your family, work and groups or societies that you belong to. Try to have interests and activities that relate to each of these areas.
Manage the levels of stress that are in your life. Learn how to relax and stay calm and have a practical and positive attitude to your abilities and life circumstances.

What is a healthy weight?
There is abundant Body mass index charts and height-weight charts available and they are easy to locate {Goggle search} so I won't go there. Suffice it to say maintaining a reasonable body weight is important and a good rule of thumb to determine if you are overweight and obese is to measure your waist. If you are a woman and your waist is more than 35 inches, or if you are a man and your waist is more than 40 inches, your risk of disease is higher.

Sleep:
Too little sleep or poor quality sleep can have disastrous effects on efforts to change behavior. When we're tired, what we need is sleep. Sleep is the single most important element in rejuvenating mind and body. Without daily sound sleep the body and mind will continue to deteriorate and your immune system will be weak. A weekend immune system opens the door for diseases to enter unabated. Sound sleep releases unnecessary clutter, stress, and built up emotion, we call this dreaming. Sound sleep lifts our spirits, clears our mind, and starts our day with hope and a bounce in our step. It is important to set a time everyday to go to bed. Don't eat a meal 2 hours before bedtime and snacks should be limited to a handful of salted nuts or a yogurt or some other light non-evasive snack. Don't drink coffee, soda, or alcohol before bedtime. Clean water and only clean water will refresh the body! If you are able, take a half-hour nap during the day it does wonders to rejuvenate the mind and body. How much sleep? Well 8-9 hours works for me however it may be different for you. Listen to your body it will tell you if you need more sleep. Lastly, feel good about going to bed to sleep, you aren't missing out on life by sleeping to the contrary you may be extending your life and certainly you will be healthier and happier

Exercise:
Here is a big controversial subject. You will get a different opinion with every person you ask; what and how much exercise should we get? So I will tell you what works for me. First allow me to tell you a little about myself. I am 61 years old, 5'10" tall, weigh 160lbs. Have a 32inch waist, I can easily, and correctly do 40-50 marine style push ups at one time. I can out race my 15-year old grandson; I chop wood and haul it by pulling it on a sled up and down hills. Look I could go on and on but you get my drift. Also I might add I don't get sick {no kidding}, I have been to a doctor 1 time in the last 32 years and that was for a sore throat {should have stayed in bed}. Am I in good shape, you bet, but you need to understand my lifestyle demands that I stay in good shape. You get what you give, no more any less. If you want to live a healthy, primarily disease free life you need to change your lifestyle. You must have a burning desire for this change to occur.

I am a firm believer that to stay fit you do not have to go to extremes. One does not have to run marathons or visit a gym every day pumping weights. If you like to do this stuff go for it but don't believe everything you hear. Moderate exercise is enough in my opinion. Walking cross country is excellent exercise, your up and down hills avoiding holes dodging tree branches, oh did I mention breathing fresh air, watching and listing to the wildlife and sharing a conversation with a companion. {My wife of 42 years}

I avoid escalators and always go for the stairs. I run instead of walking whenever I feel like it. I opt out on the easy less physical way to accomplish a task and choose instead to get physical and exert myself. I do the same things physically that I did as a child, I run, I sled, I fish, I jump, and I never grew up, BY CHOICE.

When you stop doing something it is very difficult to start back up, the key is to never stop. In conclusion find an exercise that you genuinely like to do and do it!

Faith:
No I will not throw my faith in Jesus Christ in your face and tell you that you must accept him or go to hell. That is for preachers to do, but it is important in my humble opinion to have a faith. Something to build a strong foundation on that in troubled times {they will come} you can feed upon.

Look, I am a Christian, no hiding that, and through my faith in Jesus Christ I have a rock to stand upon and a hope eternal. This is not a religious website but when someone lives their life so deeply embedded in their faith there is no way not to share. So there you go, I shared, if you want to know more Click Here

IConclusion:
Living a healthy lifestyle is a state of mind that requires commitment and dedication and above all a willingness to change. What I wrote about is my story, my opinions, my successes, what has worked for me. Search yourself for what will work for you to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Remember life is really short and time is precious; don't deny yourself the opportunity to live a long, healthy, fruitful life.

Genesis 1:29 "And God said, 'Behold I have given every herb-bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed: to you it shall be for meat'."
